Lorem Ipsum Generator Developer Tool
Generate placeholder Lorem Ipsum text by paragraphs, sentences, or words.
A layout, a component, or a CMS field needs realistic-looking filler text before real copy exists, and typing placeholder sentences by hand is a waste of time. This free Lorem Ipsum generator is a developer tool that produces paragraphs, sentences, or a fixed word count of classic Latin filler text, entirely in your browser.

Why Lorem Ipsum, specifically
The text traces back to a scrambled passage of Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, first pressed into service as filler by typesetters sometime in the 16th century. Its staying power as a placeholder standard comes from being deliberately meaningless in any modern language — nobody reading it gets distracted trying to parse actual content, which is exactly the point when you're evaluating a layout's typography, spacing, or line length rather than its copy.
Paragraphs, sentences, or words
Which mode to use depends on what you're testing. Paragraphs suit a body-copy area or blog layout where you want to see how several blocks of text wrap and space against each other. Sentences work better for shorter fields — a card description, a summary line — where a full paragraph would overflow. Words is the most granular option, useful for stress-testing a fixed-width label, button, or table cell with an exact character budget in mind.
The classic opening
Leaving "Start with 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet'" checked reproduces the traditional opening most people recognise instantly as placeholder text, which is often exactly the signal you want in a shared mockup so nobody mistakes it for real content. Unchecking it draws every word randomly from the same Latin word bank instead, useful when you specifically don't want the output to look identical to every other Lorem Ipsum block already in a design file.
After the placeholder text goes in
Once real copy replaces the placeholder, related text tools tend to follow: the case converter for normalizing heading casing, and the slug generator for turning a finalized title into a URL-safe identifier.
